Following a region wide emergency or disaster, it may take well beyond a week or more before services and supplies return to some sense of normalcy. Some emergencies could require people to shelter in place or to evacuate. This presentation will provide information on both of these emergency actions and what they involve.

The City of Federal Way Emergency Management Division will help prepare you in the best techniques to create a shelter in place and an evacuation plan, from 6:30 to 8 PM on April 21 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S.

Topics include:

  • Shelter in Place. The presentation will explain what sheltering in place means and what type of emergencies would require sheltering in place. The presentation will also cover special supplies to have on hand and actions needed to be taken when sheltering in place.
  • Evacuations. The presentation will cover the types of emergencies that may require evacuations, along with items to consider when creating a family emergency evacuation plan and supplies to take.

Presentation is free but registration is required and will be accepted up to April 21st. To register or for more information, contact Ray Gross,, 253-835-2712.
