Twin Lakes Sub-Area Planning

Bookmark and Share

The Federal Way is creating a "Twin Lakes Sub-Area" around 21st. and 336Campus.  In 2011 and the start of 2012 the City of Federal Way will be putting together a plan that addresses healthy living in this corridor with zoning and investments that will promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

(The TLSA is, of course, not to be confused with various other areas that describe themselves as Twin Lakes, including the HOA and Golf Course & Country Club that jointly declares anything else to be mislabeled.)

FWG thinks that at one time a large health club had sought to buy the empty Albertsons building but was rebuffed by the city which refused to rezone the structure/area, declaring they were looking for smaller intimate businesses, preferably locally owned, that a smaller health club might be a possibility.   With the recent failure of the highrise project to get off the ground in the city's core, FWG wonders if it's time to allow the intermediate steps towards responsible density with a mixed-used structure where the Albertsons building was - retail and transit at ground level with residential above with incentives not to drive (such as very costly parking).

The city's seeking input with a brief survey and more information here.
