Federal Way Is Swinging for the Fence with Senior Softball

Seniors are getting a softball league of their own in Federal Way this spring. Twelve teams are committed to play in the new over-50 league on Monday nights at Celebration Park. There are a few spots left in the league and the Parks Department is seeking players and teams to round out the league.

“The quality of play is excellent and the games will be competitive and fun,” said Parks Recreation Supervisor John Hutton. “Most of these teams play in tournaments but would like to play regular games close to home.”
The league will offer two divisions, one for the highly competitive teams and one for the slightly more recreational teams.  There are a few minor modifications to the rules which help keep the game fun and enjoyable for the participants.

The City of Federal Way Parks Recreation and Cultural Services Department has been a leader for many years in the world of adult softball leagues and tournaments. Senior Softball is the fastest growing segment of the game today. The Parks Department developed the new over-50 league in response to popular demand.

For more information or to register to play, contact John Hutton at the Federal Way Community Center 253-835-6298 or to be added to the list of free agents.
