City of Federal Way Achieves Financial Reporting Excellence 

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Federal Way by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report. The city has earned the  Certificate of Achievement each year for the past 20 years.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting,” said Finance Director Tho Kraus. “This award underscores the City’s commitment to providing excellent management and reporting of taxpayer dollars.”

The Finance Department prepares the City’s financial statements, including the monthly financial reports and the comprehensive annual financial report. The department provides expenditure and revenue monitoring and projection, the recording of all accounting transactions, and budget coordination, among other financial management duties.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government
finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington DC.
