Really confused... thought this was supposed to eliminate weaving and swerving.

Seems like the 18W and Weyerhauser Way onramp are into their own lane, but 18W to 5N will require a lane change, as well Weyerhauser to 5S.  (Reminder, no Weyerhauser to 18W or 161 in phase 1.  Current rumor is only a 3-month closure starting Sept. 2011.)

And then 348E to 5N  merges with 18W.

And the scariest part - the 18W to 5S and 161S - you've got the yellow traffic coming up to a stop-light in one lane while traffic in the other lane in moving along at assumedly 30-35 miles per hour.  This just seems like a recipe for trouble.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a WSDOT naysayer, I think they do great work and I enjoy following their projects.  (In general, projects in this state seem to be done really well, whether it's local, transit or state projects.)  But this project just seems a painful solution to an admittedly painful project to begin with.

And doesn't address any of the mess made by large trucks trying to get to the 99.  It's a shame Crossings was built at all.
