File No: 09-102146-00-UP
Amendments to the Federal Way Revised Code (FWRC)
Related to the Adoption of a Traffic Impact Fee

The City of Federal Way’s Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (City Hall, 33325 8th Avenue South, PO Box 9718, Federal Way, WA 98063-9718) to consider changes to how traffic impacts are mitigated.

Under the current pro-rata share mitigation program, fees for new development have varied from zero to $5,900 per trip depending on project location. The proposed Traffic Impact Fee program would replace the present methods of mitigation by assessing a set fee proposed to be between $2,729 and $3,578 per PM peak hour trip for all development.

The official file is available for public review at the Department of Community Development Services (33325 8th Avenue South). A staff report will be available to the public on June 24, 2009. For additional information on these amendments, please contact Traffic Engineer Rick Perez at (253) 835-2740, or during normal business hours. Any person may submit written comments to the Planning Commission prior to the hearing, present them to the Planning Commission during the hearing, and/or may appear at the public hearing to give public testimony.
