Citizen Survey Release

Bookmark and Share

Check out the Citizen Survey results.  Some good stuff, though some of it may be buried.  On the Executive Summary (though at 130 pages, that's not an executive summary), check out page 44 (it'll be page 46 in your PDF reader) for a simple and concise color coded chart of best areas for improvement.

And two thoughts...

(1) I'd like to see the City act upon this - they spent a lot of money on the survey, let's see some 1,2,5,10,25 year plans that address these issues.  I know some of these already exist -- though I could care less about more carpool lanes on arterials when the 70% of people drive alone, according to this survey.  But let's get them published, like Sound Transit does.  (Their yearly milestones and reporting is a great.)

(2) Who are you people who are saying that we have great shopping opportunities in Federal Way?  Last I checked, Southcenter was in Tukwilla and the Tacoma Mall was in Tacoma.   I've said it before and I'll say it again.  This city was designed by a child with OCD who had a map and four color crayons.  All the retail here, all the housing here, all the commercial over here.  Everything you want to do involves a lot of driving and our E-W arterials are underdeveloped.  And will only get worse with Wynstone and Northshore.  Not to mention that way the 5 really cuts the city in half.  And all the prime real estate on PHS that's just going to seed currently.
