Play a key part in Federal Way’s cultural scene--join the arts commission

Art exhibits, galleries, events – Federal Way is lucky to have a robust appreciation for the arts, talented artists and an active arts commission leading the local art efforts. If you want to play a key part in our City’s cultural scene, join the Federal Way Arts Commission.

The arts commission is a nine-member volunteer board that works with City staff to develop and oversee the City’s various art programs. Members are appointed by the City Council and serve three-year terms.

The commission advises the City Council on all areas of the arts – including the fine arts, literary, performing, visual and cultural. Commissioners serve on sub-committees and assist with special projects and events. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the City Hall.

Commissioners must be Federal Way residents. An effort is made to make commission
appointments that balance the interests in the fine and performing arts, and preservation of cultural heritage.

Interested residents should submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Nov. 21.

Applications are available at City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S., or For
more information, contact the City Clerk’s office, 253.835.2540.
