FWPD Media Release: Vehicle vs. Pedestrian

On January 25, 2008 at approximately 7:17 p.m., Federal Way Police Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the 35600 block of Pacific Highway South in Federal Way.

Upon officers arrival it was determined the victim, a 40 year old male from Algona, was struck by a motorist traveling southbound on Pacific Highway South.

CPR was administered at the scene, the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation would indicate the road conditions to be dry at the time of the collision.

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has temporarily closed the roadway southbound on Pacific Highway South from South 348th to South 356th Streets as the Federal Way Police M.A.I.T. (Major Accident Investigation Team) investigates. It is believed the roadway will re-open around midnight.

Federal Way Police Department’s Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E.) was called to the scene and evaluated the driver for impairment.

The driver a 56 year old male from Auburn has been arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.

The investigation is continuing. Witnesses should contact the lead investigator, Officer Swanson at 253 835 6748.

There is no further information pertaining to this incident at this time.
