FWPD Media Release -- Homicide Investigation

Date of Incident: January 18, 2008
Case No.: 08-0885

On January 18, 2008, at approximately 7:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Metro Transit Center, located at 316th and 23rd Avenue South in Federal Way.

When officers arrived on scene they discovered a victim, a white female 38 years-old from White Center, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life threatening injuries and has since died as a result of gunshot.

Federal Way Patrol Officers responded and immediately established a perimeter of the area to secure the crime scene and identified potential witnesses.

Preliminary information gathered indicated that a dispute between the victim and the suspect took place prior to the victim being shot. It appeared the victim and the suspect may have known each other and the dispute may have been over money.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens – mid 20’s last seen wearing a black puffy jacket. The suspect is still at large and was last seen running from the Transit Center.

The Federal Way Criminal Investigation Section responded and are thoroughly canvassing the area, contacting witnesses, as well as processing the crime scene.

Federal Way Police Department encourages anyone who has any information regarding this incident to call 9-1-1.

There is no further information pertaining to this incident at this time.
