Public Notice: Notice of Vacancy - Arts Commission

The Federal Way City Council is accepting applications to fill vacancies on the City's Arts Commission. The purpose of the Arts Commission shall consist primarily of advising and assisting the City Council and city staff in connection with artistic and heritage activities, and to further public awareness of and interest in fine and performing arts or the cultural heritage of the city. The nine member commission meets monthly on the first Thursday, at 7:30 AM. In addition, each commissioner participates on sub-committees, commonly spending 20 hours per month on special projects. To the extent practicable, appointments to the Arts Commission shall reflect a balance of interests in fine and performing arts, and preservation of cultural heritage.

Two vacancies are open for full terms expiring December 31, 2010. Members serve without compensation. Throughout their term, Commissioners must reside within the corporate limits of the City.

The deadline for submitting completed applications is 5:00 PM Friday, November 30, 2007.
