City sets election date for change of government initiative and seeks volunteers to write pro/con statements for voters’ pamphlet

The City of Federal Way set Feb. 19, 2008, as the election date for a citizen-led effort to change the form of government from council-manager to a strong, elected mayor. The measure will share the ballot with the Presidential primary.

The City is seeking volunteers to write the pro and con statements that will appear in the voter’s pamphlet. The deadline to submit names is Nov. 13, 2007. At its regular meeting on Nov. 20, the City Council will choose three people maximum to write the pro statement and three people maximum to write the con statement. At that meeting the Council will also approve the ballot title for the measure.

To submit names or for more information, contact Laura Hathaway, City Clerk, 253.835.2540 or laura.hathaway@cityoffederalway.com.
